Built for the Trades

PermitFees.org is a free tool for finding out what a building permit will cost before you file. It's built for HVAC guys, electricians, plumbers, roofers, and GCs who need a number fast, and for homeowners trying to budget a remodel. Pick your city, pick your trade, enter the job value, and get an itemized estimate with every line explained.

No login, no account, no email required to see fees.

Where the numbers come from

Every fee on this site comes from an official published fee schedule: the resolution or ordinance the city or county itself adopted. Every jurisdiction page links to that source document and shows the date we last verified it, and every fee rule records the exact page or section it came from.

We never estimate, interpolate, or extrapolate a fee. If a schedule only documents fees up to a certain job value, the calculator says so instead of guessing. If a printed fee is ambiguous, we leave it out or flag it until the city confirms it. New jurisdictions stay unpublished until a human has checked every loaded figure against the official document. For the full detail on sourcing, benchmark screening, and stated assumptions, read our methodology page.

Coverage

Currently live: 197 jurisdictions across 28 counties in Florida, covering building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical/HVAC, and roofing permits. Coverage expands based on real demand: if we don't have your city, you can request it and we'll add it.

The fine print

Every total is an estimate built from sourced fees. The individual fees are quoted exactly as the official schedules print them, but your building department makes the final call on valuation and which fees apply, and schedules change. Always confirm with the local building department before you apply. PermitFees.org is an independent reference site, not affiliated with any government agency. If a number looks off, tell us; we'd rather fix it than guess.
