Velasco, Suite 210, Angleton; the office accepts hard copies only and takes cash, check or money order (no cards), payable to Treasurer of Brazoria County. Ordinary and minor repairs need no permit, but renovations or additions worth 50% or more of the structure's present value do. A residential application needs the septic permit from Environmental Health (979-864-1600) when the tract is under 10 acres, a floor plan and site plan on 8.5 x 11 paper, a verified 911 address and, in any flood zone, a natural ground elevation certificate by a certified surveyor plus a signed Class B form. Builders of new homes register once with the county for a free IRC number before applying. Commercial projects first hold a pre-development meeting with County Engineering (979-864-1265) and need a drainage district certificate of compliance, a signed and sealed drainage plan and a fire code permit from County Emergency Management (979-864-1121); the Fire Marshal issues the certificate of compliance. Allow up to 20 business days. Fees double when construction begins before the permit is issued.
