Terms of Use

Effective . By using PermitFees.org (the "site"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Informational purposes only

The site provides estimates of building permit fees compiled from officially published fee schedules. Everything on the site is informational. It is not legal, financial, construction, or professional advice, and it is not a quote, invoice, or official fee determination. The city or county building department that issues your permit is the sole authority on what your permit will actually cost. Departments make the final call on job valuation, which fees apply, and current rates, and fee schedules change. Always confirm with the local building department before applying for a permit, bidding a job, or making any financial decision.

No warranty

The site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, currency, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We work hard to source and verify every figure (our methodology explains how), but schedules are superseded, documents contain errors, and our data may lag or be wrong. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PermitFees.org and its operator will not be liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its estimates, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost bids, project delays, or fee differences between an estimate and what a building department actually charges, even if we have been advised such damages are possible. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the site is to stop using it.

Not affiliated with any government

PermitFees.org is an independent reference site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government agency. Fee schedules referenced on the site are public records of the jurisdictions that adopted them; we link to the official source on every jurisdiction page so you can verify each figure yourself.

Sponsored content

Some pages carry a sponsor card for a local contractor. Sponsored placements are always labeled "Sponsored", and sponsorship never influences a fee figure: every number on the site comes from the official schedule regardless of who sponsors the page. We do not endorse sponsors, and any engagement you enter with one is solely between you and them.

Acceptable use

You may use the site for personal and business reference, and you may quote figures with attribution to PermitFees.org. You may not scrape, bulk-copy, or republish the site's compiled dataset, misrepresent the site's estimates as official fee determinations, or use the site in a way that disrupts it for others. The underlying government fee schedules are public records; the site's compilation, presentation, and text are ours.

Changes

We may update the site, its data, and these terms at any time. The effective date above reflects the latest revision of these terms; continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms. If a number looks wrong, we want to know, and we would rather fix it than have anyone rely on a bad figure. See the about page for how the site works and how to reach us.
