How to Apply for a Permit in Tallahassee

Apply online through the City of Tallahassee Customer Permit Portal. Before applying, confirm the parcel is inside city limits on the Leon County Property Appraiser's property information sheet; properties outside the city are permitted by Leon County Development Support and Environmental Management at 850-606-1300. After the application is accepted, the city emails an invoice for the application and plan review fees; once they are paid, you upload plans and documents to ePlan Review in the portal. When the permit is approved, a second invoice covers the remaining permit fees, and after payment the approved plans and permit placard are posted in ePlan Review for you to print and keep on site. Electrical, plumbing, mechanical, gas and roofing work need separate trade permits. Schedule inspections through the Interactive Voice Response System at 850-891-1800 or in the Customer Permit Portal; mechanical, gas and fire inspections are scheduled in the portal.
