Longwood accepts building and trade permit applications online through its SmartGov permitting portal. Create an account, then submit the application and plans, pay fees, print the permit card, and download the completed certificate of occupancy from the portal. Business tax receipt applications go through the same system. Paper submittals are still accepted at Community Development, 174 West Church Avenue, where staff scan the documents into SmartGov; responses to plan review comments can be brought back in hard copy or emailed to building@longwoodfl.org. Inspections are scheduled either through the portal or by calling the inspection request line, and every request must be called in by 3:30 p.m. on the business day before the date you want. Some residential replacement work qualifies for a Zoom digital inspection, including air conditioning equipment, water heaters, windows and doors, and re-pipes.
