How to Apply for a Permit in Oviedo

Oviedo issues building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing permits through the Building Services Division of the Development Services Department. Apply online through the Building Permit Online Portal, where you can submit an application, upload contractor information, pay fees, check permit status, schedule inspections, and check inspection status.

Since April 1, 2024, any permit application that requires signed and sealed drawings must be submitted electronically at the discretion of the Building Official. Applications that do not require signed and sealed drawings may still be submitted on paper. An owner-builder affidavit must be completed in person by the owner at the City Hall Annex Building, 320 Alexandria Boulevard. If you apply online as an owner-builder, the owner-builder certification acknowledgment form is required instead.

Inspections are scheduled through the same online portal. Requests must be placed no later than 3:30 p.m. on the business day before the inspection is to be made. Private providers and their contractors must also email the permit number to buildingpermits@cityofoviedo.net after scheduling so that staff know it is a private provider inspection.

Questions about permits or the portal can go to Building Services by phone at 407-971-5755, by email at buildingpermits@cityofoviedo.net, or in person at 320 Alexandria Boulevard during office hours.
