Apply through Scottsdale SPUR, the city's online planning and permitting portal: create a SPUR account, enter the permit type or keywords in the Application Assistant (or open the Permit tab), upload your documents, and pay fees online by card. Payments are also accepted in person at the One Stop Shop, 7447 E. Indian School Road, Suite 105.
Most single-family electrical, mechanical and plumbing work (for example an AC change-out like for like, a service upgrade up to 400 amps, or a water heater replacement) is a Minimum Permit that needs no plan review. Other projects start with plan review: review fees are paid after administrative review, and the remaining permit fees are due before the permit is issued. Re-roofing with the same roofing material does not need a permit.
Work done without a permit is fined an amount equal to double the permit fee.
