How to Apply for a Permit in Rockledge

Rockledge issues building permits through the city's SmartGOV citizen portal, operated by Granicus. The city accepts permit applications two ways: online through the SmartGOV portal, or by emailing a complete application with supporting documents to the Building Division. Paper application forms are available from the Building Division at City Hall or by email request. All permits are issued digitally through the SmartGOV portal. The older BS&A portal has been retired and no longer accepts applications.

Contractors must register with the city before using the portal. Send the Building Division proof of general liability insurance, workers compensation coverage or an exemption, a State of Florida contractor license, and a Brevard County competency card, and ask for a Portal Access Code. Use that code to sign up on the SmartGOV portal.

Inspections can be scheduled in the SmartGOV portal, or by calling the Inspection Request Line at 321-204-6354 and leaving a message with the permit number, inspection type, preferred date, AM or PM preference, address, and a contact for the day of the inspection. The inspection line closes at 4 p.m. on the prior business day, or once the schedule is full.

Rockledge has adopted the Florida Building Code, 8th Edition (2023). Applications referencing earlier editions are not accepted.
