South Daytona issues building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, gas, and roofing permits through the Building Division of the Community Development Department at City Hall, 1672 S Ridgewood Ave. There is no online application portal: complete the city's Building Permit Application, attach your plans and supporting documents as separate PDF files, and email the package to permits@southdaytona.org. Each trade needs its own permit, so electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work is applied for separately from the building permit. Fees are not paid at submittal: the city reviews the application first, notifies you when the permit is ready, and emails you the permit and stamped documents after payment, which you print and keep on site before the first inspection. You can look up an existing permit and its inspection results with the city's Permit Search tool, and inspections are requested through the Building Division at 386-322-3020.
