Sweetwater accepts building permit applications by email only; hard copies are not accepted at the office. Fill out the city's Building Permit Application with the square footage, job value and a detailed description, then email it with the credit card form for the nonrefundable upfront fee ($85 residential, $150 commercial) and your plans (a separate PDF, split by discipline) to submittals@cityofsweetwater.fl.gov. The city emails back a receipt with your permit number, which you use when submitting plans to Miami-Dade County, DERM and Fire where those reviews apply. Once the permit is ready, you pay the balance by credit card form, and the clerk emails the permit card, approved plans and instructions for scheduling inspections. You can check permit and inspection status on the city's eSuite portal.
